Animal Control Officer
Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control
Responds to calls for service related to domestic and wild animals. Educates the public on proper care and ownership of domestic animals. Captures unconfined animals, picks up confined animals and dead animals. Enforces city and state laws. Completes thorough and factual reports. Is certified to perform euthanasia and/or assist in treatment and euthanasia on all species of domestic and wild animals. Performs other duties as assigned. Requires an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice or Animal Science, Criminal Justice preferred. Degree may be substituted by 5 years experience as a Police Officer, Animal Control Officer, or profession requiring daily hands-on animal care responsibilities.
