Animal Control Officer Job Posting Safe Harbor Animal Rescue of the Keys (S.H.A.R.K.) currently seeks an experienced Animal Control Officer, certified or able to be certified in the State of Florida. This dedicated individual will: enforce local and state laws, regulations and procedures governing animal control; regularly patrol within the organization’s service area (Mile Marker 16.7-70, Monroe County); capture and impound stray, trapped, sick, abused, or injured domestic and non-domestic animals; collect deceased animals along County or City rights-of-way for proper disposal. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record; be able to operate and maintain the animal control vehicle; utilize animal control devices and equipment; maintain records and concise reports; work independently; and deal courteously and tactfully with customers, co-workers, and the public. Animal control operations require 24 hour emergency service. This position will also be responsible for assisting at the shelter in animal care and the kennel operations as a whole. They must maintain a humane and caring attitude towards the animals in their care. The cost of living is high in the Florida Keys and hourly wages may be less competitive than the national average.
