Animal Shelter Manager
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Animal Shelter Manager assists the Animal Control Director in the overall management and support of daily operations, oversees the care and treatment of animals at the shelter and supervises shelter staff. The person in this position has department-wide responsibilities to assist in planning, organizing and directing the administrative and technical activities, policy and procedure development, budget preparation and oversight and the preparation and analysis of reports. This employee manages the shelter operations, including direct supervision of the kennel staff and customer service staff. Employee responds to and resolves complaints from the public and public officials. Tact and courtesy are required in dealing with the public. Work is performed under the Director's supervision for the attainment of work objectives and performance standards, cleanliness of the facilities and grounds and general welfare of sheltered animals. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Two-year associates degree with major work in business management, animal science or related field and three years of relevant experience which includes a minimum of one year of supervisory experience. Prefer database and spreadsheet knowledge and skills. Must have a valid N.C. driver's license. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement. A two-year degree outside of the relevant academic field plus additional years of relevant experience may also be considered.
