Espanola Valley Humane Society is a rural, open-admission animal shelter 30 minutes north of Santa Fe in Rio Arriba County. The shelter’s mobile adoption program is one of the most successful in the state, placing more than 700 animals a year through off-site adoption events and is in need of a high-energy, success-driven individual to lead a team of volunteers to save more lives than ever in 2014. Position involves marketing, preparing for events, selecting animals for adoptions, photography and event execution. Hours can be very long and strenuous, but the reward of saving lives is endless. Qualifications and skills: • 2 years minimum experience in EITHER marketing/sales or animal sheltering • Good comfort level around cats and dogs of all levels of socialization and breed • Enjoyment in working with a team that is dedicated to making the lives of animals and people in a low-income community better • Capacity for quick-thinking and problem solving • Ability to lift 50 pounds • Current drivers license • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Willingness to work full time, including Saturdays • Ability to use social media, including Facebook, Twitter and make basic website updates • Well-versed in Microsoft applications • Either current possession of NM Euthanasia Technician license, or willingness to obtain one within 90 days Position is salaried and start date is potentially immediate so that incoming candidate can be trained by incumbent.
