P.A.W.S. ANIMAL SHELTER MANAGER Essential Duties and Primary Job Overview Responsible for supervising the operation of the shelter, shelter staff and volunteers. Responsible for animal custodial and remedial care, admissions, adoptions and fostering. Ensures the safety, sanitation, organization and upkeep of the facility, equipment and the grounds. The manager provides staff and volunteer training, prepares operational reports, educates and engages the public about P.A.W.S. organization, spay/neuter, responsible pet ownership and participates in various public off-site events. QUALIFICATIONS • A love for animals and an understanding of the plight of homeless animals • A passion for helping the animal rescue/shelter community • A positive pro-active, energetic attitude • Prior experience in an animal welfare setting • Knowledge in animal health and well being to include nutritional needs, knowledge of common animal diseases • Ability to identify species, breeds, ages and sex. • Ability to identify signs of animal illness and injuries • Prior experience in management and supervisory skills • General computer use including Microsoft Office applications and technology in general • Proven customer service skills to include phone, writing and public speaking • Ability to train others and delegate projects • Ability to stay organized and detail oriented while working on multiple tasks • Must be able to push, pull, lift 25 pounds, comfortable with repetitive motion, have clear vision and able to hear sounds at normal levels • Must be able to handle traumatic or stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
