Washington Humane Society (WHS) seeks an energetic, positive team oriented player to join the medical staff at the National Capital Area Spay and Neuter Center as well as our two shelter locations. Main responsibilities include assisting in the performance of surgical preparation, anesthetic induction, monitoring, recovery, examination, and medication of shelter and public animals. Responsible for administering vaccinations and other appropriate injections as needed. The successful candidate must have: Strong veterinary, surgical, and critical care skills, including surgical prep, maintenance of the surgical patient, patient recovery and critical care (including CPCR), familiarity with infectious disease transmission and prevention, basic laboratory skills. High school graduate or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment. A track record of successful relationships with colleagues, subordinates and customers. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted regularly. Must be able to have work a flexible schedule. Strong motivation to make a difference in the lives of animals with a commitment to rescue/help any animal in need. Strong attention to detail and excellent record keeping skills are a must. Excellent communication skills ( written and verbal ), computer literate, knowledge of resolving conflicts with domestic and wild animals. Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills.
