Canine Behavior Assessor

Animal Care & Control of NYC

Evaluate and assist with the determination of canine behavior while in AC&C’s care through SAFER assessments and other behavioral tools. • Perform SAFER assessments in accordance with SAFER guidelines • Review and evaluate all behavior information available on dogs to accurately determine behavior status in accordance with AC&C’s Placement Policy • Videotape and upload videos of all assessments performed • Accurately and thoroughly enter assessments into Chameleon database • Communicate concerns regarding any animals that may be of danger to staff and the general public • Adhere to all safety guidelines to minimize incidents of aggression. This includes determining if an assessment is not possible due to safety concerns and/or animal stress level • Maintain supply inventory and request additional supplies when needed • Perform follow-up and further investigation of behavior concerns noted during SAFER, including additional dog-to-dog interactions
