The Development Director is a member of the Baltimore Humane Society's administrative and management team, and reports to the Executive Director. The Director is responsible for leading the shelter's fundraising and events program. The Director will also be responsible for developing and maintaining active and productive relationships with board members, donors, administration, and staff. This is a full-time position to start in April 2014. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience with at least five years experience in fundraising, focusing on individual major gifts, particularly in advocacy or community-based organizations. Candidate will have a broad understanding of multi-faceted campaign planning, implementation and management; strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with donors, board members, volunteers and senior staff; creativity, results-oriented initiative, willingness to learn and ability to manage an aggressive schedule, working beyond 9-5 as needed. Candidate will also have demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate others and work well with colleagues; experience in successfully directing volunteers in a positive, team-oriented approach. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience developing successful written donor communications and marketing materials are required, along with superb organization skills; and will be detail-oriented with strong follow-through and the ability to meet tight deadlines. CFRE accreditation desirable, but not required.
