Registered Veterinary Technician

Baltimore County Government

Performs duties in the receipt, evaluation, handling, care, custody, and disposition of animals. Performs evaluation and preparation of animals scheduled for spay or neuter surgery and the operation and maintenance of animal services facilities. Assists veterinarians in the examination and treatment of animals. Prepares, calculates and documents administered drugs. Assists with spay and neuter procedures of animals. Administers anesthetic under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Monitors sedated, anesthetized and recovering animals. Collects, prepares and analyzes specimens. Administers vaccinations and minor medical treatments to animals. Maintains surgical facility and equipment. Euthanizes animals. Qualifications High school diploma or an appropriate equivalent plus at least three year's experience in a veterinary surgical environment. Possession of current registration with the Maryland Board of Veterinary Examiners as a Registered Veterinary Technician.
