Shelter Vet Assistant

Performs technical and routine animal care and related duties at the shelter. The work involves giving shots, conducting intake exams, adoptions, cleaning, maintaining kennel areas, and performing related shelter duties. Administers medicines, conducts health exams and administers first-aid and other treatment as necessary. Handles animals and makes determinations regarding their disposition. Relays information to shelter staff/volunteers. Conducts health rounds and assists in the execution and creation of shelter policies. Cleans kennels, feeds animals and performs related housekeeping duties. Prepares adoption paperwork, pet listings, and transports animals to veterinarians. Participates in shelter’s outreach program when applicable. Maintains proper inventory levels of cleaning and other supplies. Informs supervisor when reordering is necessary. Two years of related experience that includes at least one year as Animal Shelter Attendant or experience in a veterinary environment.
