    This position is responsible for all daily and medical care of SAFeR cats and kittens. This includes coordination with foster homes, vaccines, FIV/FeLV testing, medications, spay - neuter prep and post-op care, accurate record keeping; ensuring all animals are current care; maintaining supplies; coordinating and training daily kennel volunteers; maintaining a clean and sanitary work space; and communicating with others to ensure appropriate cat care in compliance with established policies and procedures. This position will have contact with the public. Preference to candidates with experience working with cats in a shelter or animal welfare environment. This position is located at the Buncombe County Animal Shelter and reports to the Placement and Population Care Director. The Veterinary Medical Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the Shelter Medicine Program and addressing the medical needs of the animals in custody, both on and off campus.
