    Animal Care Sanctuary

    Animal Care Sanctuary (ACS), one of the largest sanctuaries in the US, is conducting a search for two veterinarians for our low cost community clinics and care for our shelter animals. The clinic performs spay/neuter as well as appointments for vaccination, minor treatments and education. Our shelter animals receive any medical care needed. East Smithfield and Wellsboro are located in the beautiful Endless Mountains of PA. Close to Ithaca, Finger Lakes, Corning, Elmira and Binghamton, recreation and stores are all around but the cost of living is low. Schools, medical care are excellent. The positions include competitive wages, benefit package, paid time off and no on-call. Weekend work would be six days a year for rabies and spay/neuter clinics or Vet Stations at events. ACS is celebrating our 50th year in 2017. These positions are an opportunity to work with a well-respected leader in animal sheltering.   • Lead Animal Care Attendant

    Humane Society of the North Bay

    Humane Society of the North Bay seeks a Lead Animal Care Attendant. Duties include providing daily care (cleaning kennels and cages, feeding, giving medications) for up to 40 dogs and 75 cats at the shelter, and providing customer service for members of the public looking for a missing pet, adopting a new pet, or seeking other services. The Lead Animal Care Attendant supervises and directs a staff of five Animal Care Attendants and ensures that daily care is provided in accordance with established procedures.     This is a leadership position to directly oversee the needs of the dogs in our rescue while managing the canine care staff as well. The schedule for this position is 5 days a week, however, willingness to work extra days will be required as situations arise. This position is required to work a minimum of two Saturdays a month. The Canine Care Coordinator will ensure the implementation of exemplary standards in animal care, educate staff and the public on all aspects of dog care, and work to ensure safe and effective care environments for the various needs of animals at the shelter. This coordinator is responsible for arranging vet appointments, assisting in dog intros and training, ensuring that all dogs are kept up to date on vaccinations, and also working with the Executive Director and Medical Director for writing and implementing protocols.

    This person is responsible to bring animals into the rescue and work with sending shelters, impounds, owner surrenders, strays, etc and “pick and choose” which animals to bring into the rescue. The key to this position is knowing limits and also getting to know our foster base and the placement coordinators to see what demand we have and what type of animals we currently can help (breeds, sizes, ages, medical issues, etc) As an intake coordinator you will learn what “rescue discounts” are when referring to vetting costs and be able to make decisions (based on pricing from sending shelter/vet) on whether we want to vet the animal there (before they come to RSR) or once they are in our care. Time commitment: anywhere from 30 minutes a day to 2 hours a day.
