    Animal Care League is looking for an upbeat, motivated self-starter with a passion for animals to manage the Canine Program. This role is responsible for the dogs coming in to ACL from intake to adoption. Responsibilities include: intake/conducting SAFER evaluations, working with local police/animal control officers to ensure dogs coming in are processed and handled properly; developing enrichment, behavior modification, and adoption plans for canines in the program; overseeing kennel staff; managing the foster and canine volunteer programs; working with the vet to determine proper medical care of animals; assisting with kennel duties as necessary. The ideal candidate would possess a strong understanding of canine behavior-specific to a shelter environment, a good understanding of shelter medicine and strong communication, customer service and computer skills. At least 1 year of supervisory experience and 1 year of shelter experience or equivalent dog handling experience is required.

  • Assistant Animal Care Manager

    The Assistant Animal Care Manager serves as the Animal Care Manager on Duty during the Animal Care Manager’s days off by overseeing the overall health and welfare of the all the animals at the Rescue and Recovery Center and the successful transport of animals from the Rescue and Recovery Center to the Adoption Center in order to maximize capacity and Intake. The rest of the week, the Assistant Animal Care Manager owns several core responsibilities including managing inventory/ordering for all critical supplies in Animal Care (e.g. cleaning supplies, cat/dog supplies, etc.), reporting daily animal inventory, dog pairing, and training and directing volunteers. Requirements: Bachelors Degree or Associates Degree. At least 5 years experience in animal care, ideally in a shelter setting. At least 5 years experience managing people. Strong knowledge and experience with dog behavior. Vet Tech/Assistant experience, a big plus. Past experience managing volunteers, a big plus.
