    Dakin Humane Society is seeking a part-time veterinarian, for 24 hours a week, to join our team. We are a faced paced open admission adoption center that serves 6,000 animals per year. Primary responsibilities include performing surgeries as needed on adoption center animals (e.g. enucleation, amputations, cystotomies, tumor removal, biopsies, some s/n, dentals, etc), providing veterinary health checks, monitoring health conditions, and advising on placement and euthanasia decisions.     Serve as a key contributor to the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s shelters in the area of animal enrichment and behavior. Work closely with the shelter director, shelter training manager, shelter managers and shelter teams to set and implement overall enrichment and behavior protocols and services for all three shelter locations for all animal species. Advise and train volunteers and staff members, adopters and other constituents in the field when needed on issues of animal enrichment and behavior as they affect sheltered animals before and after adoption. A Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) preferred. A Licensed Animal Behavior Veterinary Technician or an Associate Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist is highly favorable. Must adhere to the AHA/Delta Humane Dog Training Guidelines and positive reinforcement principles for all species.
