    The Humane Society of Harford County, an open admissions shelter, is opening a brand new, state of the art shelter in November of 2015, and is seeking a full-time Shelter Veterinarian. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating animals, stabilizing ill and injured animals, overseeing day to day herd health, and coordinating the opening of our first spay/neuter suite for shelter animals. Supervisory responsibilities include managing 2-3 vet techs. Will collaborate with the new Executive Director to manage and improve procedures and protocols to make Humane Society of Harford County a progressive animal shelter.     The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) is searching for a full time Rescue Coordinator. The Rescue Coordinator is responsible for all rescue procedures including recruiting new rescue organizations, verifying references, notifying rescues of available animals, organizing transportation and following up on Spay/Neuter of rescued animals. The Rescue Coordinator works closely with animal care staff and medical staff to evaluate animals to determine their eligibility for rescue. The Rescue Coordinator may be exposed to such conditions as dust, wetness, odors, high noise levels, chemical cleaning agents, animals with behavior issues, and sick animals. The person in this position will be constantly moving about the shelter, handling animals of all sizes in a variety of areas and positions (low cages, high cages, on tables, on the floor, in vehicles, etc.).   • Feline Transport Assistance Driver (Volunteer)

    PurrHaven, Inc has received grants to fund spay neuter for unowned feral cats and begin to put an end cat overpopulation in Washington County Maryland. But we need volunteers to get these needy kitties from the Hagerstown Maryland area to the Metro Ferals spay neuter clinic in Eldersburg Maryland which is open every other Sunday. You can either do the morning drive in to the clinic and the afternoon pickup or just one of the shifts. You must love animals, be a cautious, careful driver, be on time, and have excellent driving record and no criminal background. Your vehicle must be enclosed and climate controlled (no open bed pickup trucks) and accommodate a minimum of 5 covered humane traps with cats. Even if you can only volunteer just one time, you will be contributing to ending feline over population and saving lives. Our benefits are: stipend for gas, and free dry bagged cat food, or a gift certificate for lunch for two at the new Big Cork Vineyard for in Rohrersville Maryland.
