This new, on-site position will have you caring for more than 2,000 lost and homeless pets in a non-profit shelter with 100+-year history and throughout a county area that includes Janesville/Beloit/Milton metro area. You’ll help maintain the wellness of all our pets, conduct spay/neuter surgeries, oversee treatment plans and shelter sanitation and health protocols, and evaluate and conduct health and safety procedures.     Sauk County Humane Society

    Develop/implement a comprehensive shelter animal health care program; direct kennel staff; train; monitor animal population. Responsible for all aspects of healthcare for shelter animals, including evaluation, diagnosis, disease prevention, treatments, spay/neuter. Ensure protocols for cleaning and disinfection are based on current practices specifically for animal shelters. Responsible for supervision of controlled drug logs. 3 years’ experience in shelter setting desired, or five to ten years experience in an alternate veterinary setting. DEA license. Schedule—Three/four days, 15-20 hours per week, including two Saturdays or Sundays/month. Must be a positive, energetic team player capable of thriving in a shelter environment. Strong work ethic and commitment to our mission is paramount. Must possess a DVM/VMD degree and be licensed in Wisconsin.
