If your animal shelter or humane society is outside the United States and Canada, The Humane Society of the United States international affiliate can help.
For over a decade, Humane Society International (HSI) has extended the experience, expertise, and influence of its parent organization for the benefit of animal and human populations worldwide. HSI works with humane organizations as well as national and jurisdictional governments to find practical, culturally sensitive, and long-term solutions to common animal problems.
HSI offers several programs to support individuals and organizations engaged in animal protection abroad.
- The HSI Electronic Library provides easy access in several languages to practical information on animal protection issues.
- The HSI Shelter and Advocacy Partners program (distinct from The HSUS Shelter Partners® program) encourages humane standards throughout the world, acknowledges organizations that meet certain guidelines, and helps these organizations become models for others in their native lands.
- HSI scholarship and internship programs provide support for foreign animal protectionists to participate in training in the United States in connection with The HSUS Animal Care Expo.
