Pet Behavior Tip Sheets

These tip sheets are part of The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) Pets for Life® program, designed to keep pets and their people together. Since millions of animals are given up each year, many because of behavior problems, the solutions—to the most common pet behavior problems and related issues that cause people to give up their pets—contained on these tip sheets can help people address behavior issues with their pets before relinquishing them.

Information sheets on the following topics are available in English, Spanish, and French. You may download them and customize them with your own contact information and help your clients keep their pets. Read our customization instructions for help with adding your organization’s information.

The tip sheets are PDF files. They can be viewed in Adobe® Reader®. If you don’t already have Adobe Reader, you can download it for free.

Customizing the Pet Behavior Tip Sheets

If you would like to customize the tip sheets with your own contact information and logo in the space provided*, you have several options:

Option 1: Simply click on the desired tip sheet title. This will launch the tip sheet in Adobe Reader. You can then print the tip sheet and write, stamp, or paste your contact information and/or logo in the space provided on the back. Once you have customized it, you can then make copies of the tip sheet for distribution.

Option 2: First, print the desired tip sheet and set aside. Then, using a word-processing program such as WordPerfect® or Microsoft® Office Word, create a new document and set the page margins as follows:

Top  9.4"  Bottom  0.75"
Left  0.78"  Right  4.5"

(Please note: These margins are approximate. You may need to adjust them based on your software program and printer.) After the margins have been set, type in your contact information and/or insert your graphic logo into the new document. Then, take the tip sheet you printed and run the last page back through the printer so it prints your customized information in the “This information provided for you by” box. This will give you a customized version you can then use to make copies.

Option 3: Ask a local professional printing company to tailor the tip sheet with your contact information and/or logo electronically for you. The company can then print a supply of tip sheet handouts for you in either black and white or color with your customized information.
