There is no cost to join The HSUS Shelter Partners program. If your private or public humane organization meets the program eligibility requirements and wants to apply to become a Shelter Partner, simply complete the online program application. In an attempt to secure more accurate and up-to-date information about shelters across the country, we'll ask you to update yearly data, such as your annual operating budget, the number of animals you handle each year, and the number of staff on payroll.
We'll then pool your data with the data provided by other Shelter Partners and use it to attract special programs and discount offers from companies interested in marketing their products or services to you. We'll then tell you about the offers and give you an opportunity to participate—always at your option. There will never be any obligation on your part.
As your Shelter Partner, The HSUS will pass along all cost-saving benefits to you. How does The HSUS benefit? In addition to furthering our core goal of helping shelters, we'll gain a relationship with a national vendor. This relationship, we hope, will translate into sponsorships of events such as our Animal Care Expo and other forms of support for our national animal protection programs. In addition, based on the information provided by your organization, The HSUS will be able to present more precise information regarding shelter statistics and numbers.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to join this program, your organization or agency must be located in the United States, Canada, or a U.S. territory and be either:
- A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit humane organization; or
- A public animal care and control agency.
Please note that some offers may only be available to organizations that have sheltering facilities. For more information about what offerings your group is eligible for, please contact us.

Guarantee of Confidentiality
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) guarantees that all data collected from our Shelter Partners will be used solely for the purposes of (1) soliciting discount pricing and other offers from companies interested in marketing their products or services to Shelter Partners, and (2) guiding the direction of The HSUS's animal protection programs.
The HSUS will share data from our Shelter Partners only with companies and organizations committed to creating revenue-sharing or money-saving programs for participating shelters. The HSUS will never ask our Shelter Partners for donor names.
