One group roared onto the stage atop American Chopper motorcycles, their teased manes flowing. Another participant wore fishnet stockings, a black corset, and a top hat—and carried a whip to “tame” the male “cats” prowling about her spiked heels. And to top it off, a drag queen with flaming red hair and a long pink cape emceed it all.
Get your mind out of the alley. It was all part of the fun at the first-ever Hair Ball, hosted in January by the Humane Society of Greater Dayton in Ohio to raise much needed money for its feline programs.
Yes, it was for a good cause, raking in a healthy $36,000. But that’s not to say it didn’t get a little frisky.
“It was a crazy night,” admits Tami Whalen, Hair Ball chairwoman.
