Puppy Mill Dogs Have Santa (and Two Fierce Pugs) on Their Side

Wilson, Homer, and Saint Nick get “pug”-nacious about mass breeders

Wilson the pug, co-author of The Tao of Pug, has a new book out for the holiday season. Homer for the Holidays: The Further Adventures of Wilson the Pug tells the amazing story of how Wilson—with a little bit of help from Santa—finds a home for Homer, a fellow pug who has escaped from a pug puppy mill and is on the lam from the money-hungry folks who bred him.

While largely a charming romp with enough cute pug pictures to satisfy the most pug-hungry reader, the book also delivers a clear message about puppy mills—not just in the storyline but in a reference to The HSUS’s anti-puppy mill website, www.stoppuppymills.com. Co-author (and Wilson guardian) Nancy Levine says she’s excited to help raise awareness of the puppy mill problem.

Homer for the Holidays is available from major retailers for $19.95, but the publisher has arranged for a wholesale discount for pug rescue groups. For more information, contact Jennifer Schwabinger at 212-366-2033; jennifer.schwabinger@us.penguingroup.com.
