Covering everything from puppy mills to free-roaming cats, new book introduces young adults to the issues

A new study/activity guide produced by the National Association for Humane and Environmental Education (NAHEE) uses thought-provoking questions and hands-on activities to teach teens about issues affecting dogs, cats, horses, and other pets.

Pets for Life: A Look at the Relationship Between People and Their Companion Animals discusses the work of animal shelters, the “no kill” debate, and pet-related legal issues. The 45-page book includes recent statistics on pet ownership trends and describes how young people can help pets in their communities. Teens looking for more information or other ways to get involved will find the “Resources” section—which lists useful websites, journals,and books—a great place to start.
