Sample Flyer Explaining How a Local Shelter Can Assist Pet Owners in the Military During a Deployment

This sample flyer can be edited to fit your needs and distributed to local military bases.

The [SHELTER NAME] understands this is a very difficult time for your family with the many arrangements to be made. We are in a position to assist you with what we know best-pets! Your companion animals are a very important part of your family, and we want to help you keep them and care for them.

The [SHELTER NAME] is prepared to assist you in the following ways:

[MODIFY THIS LIST TO SUIT YOUR SHELTER'S OFFERED SERVICES]

  • providing dog and cat food, cat litter, and pet supplies to this base on a regular basis to help military families with the expense of caring for the family pet.
  • establishing a veterinary fund to assist families with standard veterinary services and the costs associated with that care. offering a reduced-cost spay and neuter program to families caring for the pets of military personnel.
  • offering our behavior expert, or hotline, free of charge for families caring for pets of military personnel. providing humane education classes on the base several times a year to provide basic animal care information to its residents.

It is very important to keep loved ones close during these uncertain times-this includes the four-footed members of our families. We urge families to work hard to keep animals in the family and resist relinquishing these beloved pets to area shelters.

If you find you are unable to keep your pet, please contact us. We will be accepting pets military families can no longer care for. Based on health and temperament evaluations, these animals may be made available for adoption.

Anyone looking for a permanent animal addition to their family is invited to visit us. We always have healthy, lovable dogs and cats available for adoption.
