Planet Dog Philanthropy Gives Shelter Dogs a Bone'and a Waterbowl, and a Leash...

Adopters at Maine’s Animal Welfare Society of Kennebunk get to bring home not only a new friend but also water bowls, toys, and leashes from Planet Dog—courtesy of Planet Dog Philanthropy’s new grant program.

Planet Dog, a manufacturer and retailer of dog products, created the PDP Product Donation Grant Program to benefit 501(c)3 animal welfare, environmental, and education-related organizations. Selected humane societies, animal shelters, and other nonprofits can receive donations of products for their animals; organizations without shelters can sell the items to raise money for community programs.

Applications for donations of products—which can range from leashes to Frisbees to tote bags—are accepted at any time. Planet Dog has already donated about $10,000 worth of products this year so far.

According to Planet Dog Philanthropy’s website, qualified animal welfare nonprofits must focus on “Rescue & Rehabilitation,” “Preservation of Rare & Threatened Species,” “Prevention of Cruelty & Neglect,” or “Education.” For more information on the grant program or to apply online, visit
