The evolution: When Stacey Taylor founded the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection back in 2000, her plan was to stick with her day job while bringing her corporate public relations expertise into play for animals.
Involved in animal welfare issues since high school, Taylor thought TCAP could help area animal shelters handle PR in new ways. “We saw the need for animal welfare organizations to have, quote, ‘professional’ help,” says Taylor. “Many times they didn’t get the PR they needed, not because they weren’t worthy, but just because they didn’t have a professional approach.”
