We held a “Change Their Luck Cat Adopt-a-thon” last June. On Friday the 13th, we were open for 13 hours, and adopted cats for just $13! Adopters also went home with special goodie bags filled with toys and treats for their new cats. Throughout the day, our veterinarians and behavior counselors were available for free advice to visitors, and we had displays on cats, program information, refreshments, prizes, and raffles. It was a huge success, making Friday the 13th a lucky day for over 30 cats at Lollypop Farm!

After some good-natured bantering among board members, shelter director Betty Peyton sent out a long e-mail with all of the “designer breeds” at the shelter to everyone on the shelter e-mail list. The local paper picked up the story, and we posted it on the website. We had multiple applications and adopted every animal.
