Humane Kansas Disaster Preparedness Training

Free day-long training for all who work in the animal welfare field

Join us for Humane Kansas Disaster Preparedness Training! This FREE, day-long training is for shelters, rescues, animal control officers, law enforcement, veterinarians and others who work in the animal welfare field. Lunch and coffee will be provided and valuable prizes will be raffled.

Earn continuing education credits! We have applied for advance approval of Certified Animal Welfare Administrator continuing education credits. Ask your department head about approval for KCPOST credits!

Topics to be presented

Facility preparations – Ensuring that your facility is prepared for a crisis is paramount when caring for animals. Have an understanding of sheltering in place or facility evacuations, and develop a written plan for your facility.

ICS System – Understanding the incident command system and how to “plug in” to the emergency hierarchy.

Community Preparedness – Effective techniques for working with local authorities to incorporate pets into disaster plans, cooperation between agencies & the resources needed to coordinate lifesaving for animals.

Equine & Large Animal Preparedness – Be prepared to assist equines and livestock in the event of a disaster.
