Ann Kolakowski, CAP

Senior Director of Planned Gifts, The Humane Society of the United States

Ann Kolakowski CAP® is Senior Director of Planned Gifts at the Humane Society of the United States. In this role, she secures bequest commitments from donors in the Mid-Atlantic, oversees the Charitable Gift Annuity program, and co-administers a multichannel planned giving marketing program. Ann joined the HSUS in 2014 after serving as Director of Major and Planned Gifts at Towson University, her undergraduate alma mater. Her previous experience includes development and communications positions at The Johns Hopkins University, Goucher College, and the National Aquarium, as well as independent schools in Boston and Philadelphia. In addition to a B.S. in Speech Communications from Towson, Ann earned a M.A. in Writing from The Johns Hopkins University and holds the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® designation from The American College of Financial Services. She serves on the board of the National Capital Gift Planning Council (chairing its 2020 Planned Giving Days conference) and is the Director of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the FSHD Society, which seeks a cure for Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy. Ann is the mother of two grown children and lives with her husband, two terriers, and two cats in Montgomery County, MD.
