Kate Pullen joined the staff of the ASPCA in November of 2005 with the specific job of assisting the Louisiana SPCA recover from the effects of hurricane Katrina. She is now a Senior Director for ASPCA Community Outreach, working again with organizations around the country, helping them find opportunities, grow programs, and solve problems. Kate has over 29 years of shelter experience and prior to joining the ASPCA she was the Director of Animal Sheltering Issues for the Humane Society of the United States from 2000-2005. Prior to HSUS, Kate was the director of The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, VA, from 1993-2000, and was the Director of the Humane Society of Baltimore County from 1990 to 1992. Kate is a sought-after speaker/advisor and expert on shelter operations, program development, shelter design, program implementation, disaster response, crisis intervention, board operations, and, strategic development. She provides extensive advice on a variety of topics to the animal welfare industry. Kate has a degree in Business Administration and currently lives in Cincinnati, Ohio.
