This session will examine various aspects of local ordinances that regulate backyard breeders, puppy mills and pet stores, and can even prevent these operations from opening in the first place. We’ll discuss how to create such ordinances, who should be involved in the implementation process, the numerous benefits of these regulations, how ordinances can assist local law enforcement/animal control with investigations and inspections, and how local veterinarians can get involved to support such an ordinance while continuing to support their clients and community.
