Animal Care Expo 2020

After an exhaustive process of due diligence conversations and staff preparation efforts regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel Animal Care Expo 2020 on May 6-9 in San Antonio, TX. We know this message is not the one many of you were hoping to receive. For others, it may be the challenging and difficult decision you hoped the HSUS might reach. Please know that all of you reading this message are in our thoughts.

It is with deep regret that we must make this unfortunate announcement, and we invite you to click the button below to read on and learn more about the decision to cancel and next steps.

On February 10, 2019, in Richmond, Virginia, a dog was doused in accelerant, tied to a fence and set on fire. The dog, named Tommie by his rescuers, became the center of an intense felony animal cruelty investigation that resulted in the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator of this horrific crime. We’ll look at various aspects of the case including the overwhelming support of an entire community and nation; round the clock medical care provided; collaboration of Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) staff, volunteers, advocates and RACC Foundation members; HSUS, community and other supportive events and fundraisers; and management of the emotional and physical challenges involved. We all worked together to navigate exceptionally difficult circumstances and so can you.
