At Nevada Humane Society, our mission is to care for pets, find them homes, and save lives because we believe that all pets deserve a happy, healthy life. The Adoption Manager achieves this mission and vision by overseeing adoptions, meeting adoption goals, ensuring quality customer service, and scheduling, coordinating and supervising staff and volunteers.

The role manages public and staff interactions, the Animal Help Desk and animal admissions, community service, the pet food assistance program, and in-shelter money receipts.

Essential Job Functions:
• Ensure that Adoptions staff are trained in all procedures and policies
• Actively oversee staff for delivery of quality customer service in accordance with organizational policies
• Actively provide feedback to and motivate staff
• Ensure that adoption goals are met
• Ensure that Help Desk and admission interactions keep animals in homes
• Assist customers with high-quality customer service
• Oversee the care of small animals including rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, rats, ferrets, birds, and reptiles
• Resolve problems and address customer dissatisfaction
• Use shelter management software, ensuring accurate records
• Manage and track off-site, special events, and promotions adoptions
• Work with Marketing & Events staff on events/promotions
• Assist with foster care as needed
• Maintain knowledge of animal behavior and health and ways to make good matches and keep animals in homes
• Monitor health of animals, immediately reporting any health problems or conditions
• Treat all animals humanely and with compassion
• Contribute to effective teamwork

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
• 4 years of animal sheltering experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Experience:
• 3-5 years’ management/supervisory experience preferred
• Retail/sales management experience a plus
Licenses:
• Valid CA or NV Driver’s license and ability to pass Nevada Humane Society Motor Vehicle Report criteria and current auto insurance
• Obtain and maintain a current Nevada Euthanasia License

• Strong problem solving skills, focusing on finding solutions
• Comfort and ability to work with animals of unknown disposition

Physical Requirements:
• Physical ability to walk and/or stand on your feet throughout workday
• Ability to lift and move objects and animals weighing up to 50 pounds and to humanely restrain animals when necessary
• Physical ability to engage in repetitive motions, to hear, and to see
