This role will manage a portfolio of 75+ HRA donors giving between $2,500 and $25,000 annually, as well as a slate of discovery calls to $1,000 donors and new HRA supporters with potential. A donor survey demonstrates that many donors wish to be more engaged with HRA and many are likely capable of giving more and more consistently as they build relationships and are asked to support specific projects they care about. The Major Gifts Officer will spend about 75% of his or her time directly interacting with donors, primarily through individual meetings and shelter tours. The remaining time will be dedicated to working with the Chief Development Officer to develop donor strategy, conduct preliminary donor research, track donor engagement, write emails and letters to donors, and contribute to donor stewardship materials like event invitations and reports.
The Major Gifts team, led by the CDO, also includes an experienced Manager of Foundations / Corporations. The Development team is completed and supported by a Direct Response group, which has expertise in direct mail, online fundraising, database management and reporting, as well as creating a donor pipeline for the Major Gifts program.
HRA is in an exciting growth period that includes a capital campaign for a new facility, sophisticated programs with national partners and impact, and regional leadership in animal welfare. The Development Department collaborates closely with Communications and Events, as well as across the organization with areas like the Medical Center, Humane Law Enforcement, and Community Programs.
