Located in the Shenandoah Valley, the Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA [RHSPCA] is the areas largest animal welfare agency. We serve the City of Harrisonburg and County of Rockingham with an annual intake of nearly 3000 animals. The RHSPCA's had a transformational year in 2019, decreasing shelter euthanasia by 50%. We are primed to save even more animals this year and are seeking to fill the open position of the Shelter Operations Manager to help us do it.
R-H SPCA is seeking a progressive, quick thinking, dynamic individual who brings animal handling and people skills along with passion, commitment and enthusiasm for our mission and accountability for their work. We are seeking someone able to lead and work well with a team. Independent thinking and resourcefulness to overcome roadblocks are a must.
Shelter Operations Manager at the RH-SPCA has direct oversight off all shelter operations and is responsible for all aspects of animal care, customer service, team leadership and shelter operations and staff functions. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulations and guidelines while leading a team in implementing best shelter practices to maximize the impact of R-H SPCA’s lifesaving efforts.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience managing processes and personnel in an animal shelter. Excellent time management and oral and written communication skills along with ability to develop and build teams to support common goals is required.
