Canine Behavior Specialist
The Canine Behavior Specialist provides behavioral enrichment to the dogs in Animal Care Centers of New York City’s (ACC) care, including assisting with playgroups and behavioral assessments, providing exercise, behavioral and environmental enrichment, socialization, and basic training.

The Animal Care Specialist at Pets In Need Redwood City must be a certified canine trainer from a certifying organization and practice positive reinforcement/force free training methods. He/she will be responsible for collaborating with Animal Care colleagues and adoption and medical staff to create behavior management programs and to provide direct behavior care and work with Pets In Need animals. The Animal Care Specialist must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with people as well as animals.

This role is responsible for the daily operations of Dorchester Paws facility, internal systems, policies & procedures, and the majority of the organization’s staff. This role provides leadership, oversight and long range planning to ensure all areas of shelter are operating at the highest standard possible. Serving as the conduit between admissions and adoptions, this person will be responsible for planning and implementation of humane action plans for all animals, and overseeing all aspects of the admission clinic.
