Title: Executive Director
Organization: Suffolk Humane Society
Overview
We are seeking an executive director who will serve as the organization's leader and visionary. The executive director oversees its operations, programs, and strategic direction. This role requires a compassionate and innovative individual dedicated to the welfare of all animals, with strong leadership, management, and fundraising skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fundraising Expertise: Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the organization's mission and programs. This includes cultivating donor relationships, securing grants, organizing fundraising events, and exploring innovative revenue streams.
2. Financial Management: Oversee the organization's financial health, working closely with the Board of Directors to develop budgets, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities for financial sustainability. Implement financial controls to ensure fiscal responsibility and long-term viability.
3. Supervisory Leadership: Provide strong leadership and direction to staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Ensure effective communication and teamwork.
4. Community Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, government agencies, and community partners. Actively engage with the public to promote awareness of our mission and programs.
5. Creative Marketing: Utilize creative marketing strategies to increase visibility and support for the organization. Develop compelling messaging and branding initiatives to effectively communicate our mission and impact.
6. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set organizational goals and priorities. Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve long-term objectives and ensure the organization's continued growth and success.
7. Advocacy and Public Relations: Serve as a passionate advocate for animal welfare issues. Represent the organization in public forums, media interviews, and legislative efforts to advance our cause.
8. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing animal welfare organizations. Stay informed of best practices and emerging trends in the field.
9. Reporting and Accountability: Provide regular reports and updates to the Board of Directors, detailing progress towards organizational goals, financial performance, and program outcomes. Maintain transparency and accountability in all aspects of operations.

Requirements
A bachelor’s degree or a minimum (5) years of relevant experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, or a related field.
Proven track record of success in fundraising, with experience in grant writing, donor cultivation, and event planning.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and a results-oriented approach.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and trustworthiness, with a commitment to ethical conduct and transparency.
Knowledge of animal welfare issues and a passion for making a difference in the lives of animals and communities.

Metrics for Success

- Growth in public awareness and understanding of animal welfare issues as evidenced by increased foot traffic in the facility, adoption rates, and reduction in overall animal numbers.
- Achievement of fundraising goals, including donor engagement, revenue generation, and sustainability for the organization.
- The number of educational programs offered and participants reached.
- Positive feedback from program participants, volunteers, and community partners.

Salary – range $60,000-$75,000 commensurate on experience
