The Humane Society of Charlotte is seeking the perfect fit for our Pet Help Associate role! This is a full-time position needed to work a Saturday - Wednesday schedule.

The Role
The Pet Help Associate is responsible for guiding and empowering pet owners to solve their pet related problems. They will be able to provide resources and information about our own programs as well as outside organizations and social service agencies. The Pet Help Associate will be able to communicate clearly, positively & empathetically with citizens seeking guidance on pet rehoming and surrender, general pet resources, lost/found animal protocols, veterinary medical services, behavior and training, pet housing/boarding and more, to find the best possible solutions for people and animals. The Pet Help Associate is also responsible for engaging with our clients by regularly following up on individual cases, collecting and maintaining accurate records, and identifying trends in community needs.

All of these resources and more ensure that we are serving people and animals in need in our community and keeping animals with their families. To have the best chance of success in this role, you'll have the ability to be friendly, non-judgmental, and measured even in difficult situations. Enthusiasm for the mission of HSC is also a must!

Who are we looking for?
Preferred: six months to one-year related experience and/or training, preferably a Customer Service role.
Preferred: basic behavior and training knowledge as well as knowledge of common veterinary concerns.
Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Exceptional verbal and written skills, including clear and effective communication with others (staff, public, volunteers) that is professional, respectful, positive and educational.
Excellent communication skills, to include the ability to effectively handle and diffuse high-stress and emotionally charged situations.
Open-minded and accepting of a diverse clientele and able to empathize towards a wide range of situations.
Computer literate in a Windows environment; proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
Must have a reliable mode of transportation.
Must have general knowledge of companion animals and be comfortable interacting with dogs and cats.
Must be able to lift & move up to 50 lbs.
The employee should have no known allergies to animals that would prevent them from performing the duties as required.
Must be physically able to walk and control large dogs as needed.
