Certified Veterinary Technician
Be a hero for your community! Willamette Animal Guild (WAG) is a 501c3 nonprofit seeking a part-time to full-time Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our low-cost, high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHV) and wellness clinic. WAG’s surgical and wellness team works 4 days a week, 10 hours max. per day. WAG’s S/N clinic is a fast-paced environment averaging 5,000 surgeries per year. We are seeking a dynamic, friendly and self-starting team member to join our community clinic (32+ hours per week, Monday - Thursday).
Applicants must have a minimum of one year experience as a CVT. HQHVSN clinic experience is preferred, but not required. This position will lead our wellness team, with S/N surgical training and fill-in as needed. Starting pay commensurate with experience.
WAG CVT’s are responsible for daily care of all wellness patients and some surgical, assisting doctors and veterinary assistants with pre-, peri- and post-operative care and restraint and care of all wellness patients.
Essential Surgical Position Functions
Handle and track controlled substances for large volumes of surgical patients.
Efficiently premedicate, induce, and intubate any and all patients as necessary.
Able to monitor anesthesia, with a clear idea of abnormal conditions.
Ensure prompt and accurate paperwork procedures are followed each day.
Communicate in effective and professional manner with public, trainees, volunteers and all staff members.
Represent WAG in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
Follow all written and verbally communicated departmental standard operating procedures.
Communicate with clients and assist with rechecks as needed.
Have knowledge and ability to intake and release patients, including delivering post-operative instructions in a competent and friendly manner.
Train veterinary assistants, new staff members, volunteers, and trainees to utilize our patient care protocols.
Able to respond appropriately during an emergency, able to take directions from a veterinarian and direct others during the event and be skilled in CPR procedures.
Able to glove in sterilely and assist doctor with surgery when appropriate.
Handle medical calls.
Complete wellness vaccine and recheck appointments.
Educate owners on various topics (vaccines, disease, and flea/heartworm prevention)
Schedule wellness appointments online, email/text, or phone and follow up appointments.
Display a positive attitude and act as a motivating force for all staff members.
Able to efficiently collaborate with our clinic team and maintain surgical flow.
Able to perform all job functions of a CVT.
All other duties, as assigned by the supervisor.

8 days front-loaded PTO at day 91 (Prorated)
