New to Animal Care Expo 2024, attendees will have two incredible opportunities to give back to our host city of San Antonio.

Community Animal Welfare Service Day

Join us on Wednesday, May 15 for the first ever Expo for a CAWS (Community Animal Welfare Service) Day! In celebration of National Chip Your Pet Month, volunteers will join the team at City of San Antonio Animal Care Services to host a free microchipping and pet food distribution event for the local community.

Volunteer roles will include food/product distribution, line management, runners and animal handling. We are also looking for 12 individuals who are able to administer microchips plus 10 individuals who are either bilingual or familiar with American Sign Language (ASL) to assist with communication. Volunteer hours are 7:30am-3:00pm CDT . Transportation to and from the Convention center is included as well as a plant-based boxed lunch and tour of the San Antonio Animal Care Services facility.

Please note that this event takes place on the same day as Learning Labs, so you will not be able to attend both. Advanced registration is required and spots are limited so we recommend to register early. There is no cost to attend.

Kindness Kits

Build Kindness Kits with us in the Exhibit Hall! We are excited to partner with local organization, Haven for Hope – a place of hope and new beginnings that serves over 1,600 people daily, coordinating and delivering an efficient system of care for people experiencing homelessness in San Antonio. Knowing many individuals experiencing homelessness will not want to seek shelter without their furry friend, they have removed this barrier with their kennel services program. Their kennel program provides shelter, food, toys, blankets, vaccinations and veterinary services to further the goal of keeping people and pets together, and that’s a mission we are all about!

Expo attendees will have the unique opportunity to assemble Kindness Kits, which will include hygiene products, first aid supplies, non-perishable items, pet treats, toys, leashes and more , for Haven for Hope’s human residents and their pets! Open during exhibit hall hours, this is the perfect opportunity to make some new connections while making a difference. No advance registration is required.

The Kindness Kits Station is sponsored by Farm & Yard with support from Shepard Exposition Services.
