Short-term contraception can be a stopgap resource when access to surgery is delayed. A weekly oral dose can be inexpensive and accessible through compounders using a veterinary prescription. This session will describe how shelters can use an oral contraceptive for female cats placed before surgery, or those who come of age in foster care, and a pilot program in cat colonies. ACC&D, a nonprofit working to advance nonsurgical sterilization, will also describe progress in the search for a single injection, nonsurgical sterilant.
