Animal Services Dispatcher
The first voice in animal rescue!

This position is assigned to the Office of Animal Services (OAS) which is located at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center in Derwood, Maryland 20855. The Animal Services Dispatcher is responsible for delivering quality communication services to the public, as well as providing accurate and timely dispatch support to Animal Services Officers. The Animal Services Dispatcher has a unique responsibility in a fast-paced environment that requires careful attention to detail, multi-tasking, and good communications skills. Major duties include answering calls from citizens, dispatching Animal Services Officers to calls, using computer systems known as Chameleon and (CAD) Computer Aided Dispatch. Animal Services Dispatchers work closely with Animal Services Officers and Cruelty Investigator regarding animal related concerns and enforcement of animal laws. Additionally, Animal Services Dispatchers work with shelter staff and assist with matters involving animals in our care. Most importantly, Animal Services Dispatchers interact with members of the public to assist, educate, and help resolve their animal related concerns, both domestic and wild. Animal Services Dispatchers are the subject-matter-experts when receiving calls from the public. Animal Services Dispatchers are essential personnel, requiring the ability to respond to work in all types of weather.
